Race report from Phil Marshall
Huge thank you and well done to all Newbury AC cross country athletes that have participated in the Oxfordshire League this season. You have all been FANTASTIC and it’s been incredibly successful again!
Today was the final fixture at Henley Showground and I think everyone who raced today will be in agreement that the toughest course was saved for last!
A rainy, muddy, very hilly course with 1000ft of climbing for the Senior Men!
We had a great 1,2 in the Senior Women’s race with Sophie Crumly and Jess Franklin completely dominating and finishing over a minute clear of 3rd place.
In the Men’s race Matt Green again finished in a very impressive 3rd place, with James Craggs and James Knight in the Top 10.
In the juniors we had a fantastic win for Josie Robertson in the U13 girls race, with Miriam Cooper finishing in her best position this season of 8th in the same race. Luci Robertson was an impressive 4th in U15/17 girls race.
We await the final overall results, but I believe both of Senior Men and Women have successfully retained their titles. Jess Franklin is the Overall (and V35) Women’s winner and by my calculations Josie Robertson has shared the U13 girls title and Victoria Duncan has also shared the Senior Women’s title.
Matthew Green looks to have secured 3rd in Senior Men’s competition with Rachel Allen 2nd V45 Woman and Liz Harkness 1st V65 Woman.
I will update the above once final scores are confirmed.
