Oxon Mail Cross Country – 3rd December – Update

Report from Phil Marshall:

The club backed up their double team win from the first Oxfordshire Cross Country League fixture by again topping both the Women’s and Men’s tables after the second round match held at Kilkenny Country Park in Carterton.
Izzy Fry once again romped to victory in the Women’s race with a dominant performance leading from gun to tape to claim her second victory of the series. Jess Franklin followed Izzy home in second place (first V1) and Mireille Cook completed the scoring team in 11th (second V1).
In the Men’s race Newbury AC had to cope without their leading two runners from the first fixture, but they proved what great strength in depth they have by still taking the team win, lead by Matt Green finishing 4th in the 225 strong field. Phil Marshall in 16th and Mike Robbins in 18th also had impressive races with Steve Elsmere, Vladimir Tsagov, Jeff Bird and Andrew Ind making up the winning Newbury AC A team lineup and Irwin Fairclough finishing as 2nd V3.
There were also very strong junior performances for Newbury AC.  Kitty Shepherd-Cross took the U17 girls victory, Luci Robertson was 2nd U15 girl and the U13 girls of Josie Robertson (4th), Sophie Bhatt (8th) and Phoebe Ryder (10th) claimed the fixture team win.

Oxfordshire Cross Country League – Newbury Showground – Sunday 5th November

Message from Phil Marshall, Cross Country Team Manager:

A massive thank you to everyone that ensured the hosting of the first Oxfordshire Cross Country League fixture of the season on Sunday such a success.

To anyone that helped with course set up, car parking, race number recording, marshalling, race hares, race sweepers and any other jobs you may have been roped into – you were all amazing!

There were brilliant performances by all Newbury AC runners in the races across all the age categories. A big well done to Tom Watkins and Izzy Fry, both winning the respective Senior Men’s and Women’s race and giving us a great start to retaining both titles won last year.

Photos of the senior races from Barry Cornelius will be found here, please credit him if you use them anywhere:

Provisional results of all  races can be seen here . The full approved final ones will follow in a few days.

Please don’t throw away or lose your race number bib, you’ll need it for all the league races this season!  Also, there were some blue lensed sunglasses in a case left in the tent, so shout if they are yours.

Thanks and well done again to everyone.  I hope to see as many of you again at the next fixture, more information to follow on that as soon as I have it.

P.S. If you haven’t already done so, please let me know ASAP if you want to run Berks, Buck & Oxon Championship on Sunday 19th November. Closing dates for submitting the teams is this Friday.

Thanks

Phil
