Berkshire XC championships

Newbury Athletic Club enjoyed medal success at the Berkshire County Cross Country Championship this weekend at a very wet and muddy course in Woodley.

The club’s Senior Men won a team bronze medal with Sam Hart (5th) and Callum O’Neill (6th), who both received an invitation to represent the county in the Inter-Counties Championship early next year, joined by Cameron CraikMike WheelerMarcin Malolepszy and Mike Robbins.

James Craggs received an individual bronze as 3rd Male Master and along with James Knight and Phil Marshall won the team gold.

The Senior Women’s race was run over the same 10k distance as the men for the first time and Jess Franklin won a silver medal as second Female Master and Rachel Allen a bronze as 3rd. Franklin by virtue of finishing 7th overall Woman and Emma Downie who was 7th in U20 girls both also received a Berkshire team invitation.

Newbury AC also achieved medal wins in the junior races with Josie Robertson coming 3rd, winning an individual bronze and she was joined by Miriam Cooper (12th) and Maddy Leek (13th) to win the team bronze.

Aston House was 11th and Issa Duggan 18th in U13 boys, Georgia Knight was 27th in U13 girls, Sophie Bhatt 17th in U15 girls and Luci Robertson 11th in U17 girls, where she was joined with second claim member Lucy Wells who finished 6th running for Bracknell AC.
