Report by Dave Wright
The annual trip up north was extra warm this time, with Keswick reaching 31degrees when we were racing nearby. Unprecedented for fell races, water was provided at the checkpoints on Wednesday and Sunday. Great scenery, conviviality and hospitality as usual with the fell running community.
Tebay Fell Race (Cumbria) 8 miles (914metre climb) Dave Wright 47th (1hour 43 minutes), Chris Hobson 67th (2hours 6 minutes) (Race actually measured 9.3 miles and is considered the hardest midweek race in Cumbria. Great meat pies and mushy peas afterwards. 82 finishers
Kirkby Stephen Sports (Cumbria) 2.8 miles (110metre climb) Chris 20th approx. (20 minutes), Dave 23rd approx. (22minutes) 45 runners. Chris won the half mile handicap afterwards and after a pint of beer, winning £8 and he would probably have won outright as he recorded under 2 minutes with only a small head start! Didn`t do so well in the sprint, sack race or egg throwing though!
