Ollie Johnson Memorial Kintbury 5 – June 5th 2016

Message from Dave Wright:

Final results for the 5 mile race can be downloaded here (updated 7th June). There were some issues with the recording of times for positions around 100 to 110 which we believe have been rectified.

Results of the junior fun runs can be downloaded here.

Photographs (thank to Charles Fowler) can be viewed here

Race report:

Matthew King the senior winner was very quick to thank his rivals and the marshals on his first visit to Kintbury.  Mark Vardy tried very hard for a 3rd Kintbury win, but still recorded a superb time in rather warm conditions when coming second.

Tom Teece came down from Durham University for the weekend to defend his junior  trophy, but lost to an improved showing from Felix Wernham of Aldboure (who came second to Tom last year!)

Ladies winner Sophie Crumly was winning again for the second time in an impresive time of just outside 30 minutes.

We are glad to report we had no medical casualties and the supply of water from Bayer and Tesco was sufficient!

We would like to thank all the villagers, Newbury AC, Kintbury School PTA,  Inkpen and Kintbury Scout Group, Kintbury Football Club, Kintbury Bowls Club, Rayner Diesel Service, Mick Cornwall Aerial Services for all their help in numerous ways.

And finally, we have had an offer of a paddock for extra parking next year for which we are very grateful.

Next race in the West Berks Challenge is the Hungerford Harey 8 on Sunday 19th June.
