Izzy Fry opened up her track season in fine style, slicing close to ten seconds off her own Under 20 3000m club record when she clocked 9mins 57.96 at the first Watford Open Graded meeting of the season last Wednesday. It was all the more impressive because the entire race was run in torrential rain, the starter even warning them they might not hear the gun !
Charlotte Payne had a busy weekend competing both at the Basingstoke & Mid Hants open on Saturday 7th and the Reading AC championships at Palmer Park on Sunday 8th. It was at the former where she had her better results throwing a new U17 club record of 43.23m in the Discus and also competed in the Hammer (57.74m) & Shot (11.3m).
And finally, at Saturday’s Newbury park run, twelve year-old Josie Robertson knocked 40 secs off her previous best for a new PB of 18:47 – a time that puts her firmly on top of the club’s Age-Graded League table.
