Success for our under 13 Throwers

Under 13 Discus throwers Charlotte Payne and Maddy Mitton rounded off a busy few weeks with medal success at the U13 Berks County Championship at Bracknell on Wednesday evening.
By finishing 1st and 2nd respectively at the District Schools’ competition at Palmer Park in June, Charlotte (Kennet) and Maddy (St Barts) ensured their selection for the County Schools finals back at the Reading track earlier this month.
Here Charlotte utterly dominated to win with an outstanding throw of 34.95m, which is the 5th best ever distance recorded by an under 13 girl, returning her to the number 1 spot in the UK rankings. It also breaks Helen Broadbridge’s long-standing NAC record of 32.58m set in 2004. Maddy claimed her first county medal with a throw of 22m for the silver, just short of her PB and well clear of the third placed athlete.
In a small but select field at the Berkshire Championships in Bracknell, Charlotte claimed gold again throwing 30.03m – smashing the Championship record for the second successive year in the process – and whilst Maddy was a little below her best, her 17.76m was enough to secure the bronze.
In addition both girls have recorded PBs in Shot Putt whilst representing the Club in Wessex League, either winning or placing second in A & B strings for both Shot and Discus in the most recent two matches.”
