Harry Russell claimed the 800m indoor Northern Championship title on Sunday. Russell, who is currently studying at Sheffield University, won the race in a time of 1:55 over seconds ahead of second place.
Izzy Fry and Alex Muir both raced the British Athletics Cross Challenge series on an extremely muddy course in Stirling on Saturday.
Izzy stepped up in age category to the Senior Women’s race to test out the 8km distance ahead of some upcoming U20 Championship races that will be run over the same distance. The race, which was broadcast on BBC Sport website, saw Izzy mix it with top home international athletes, finishing in an impressive 7th position.
Alex was representing the Scottish Students Team on behalf of Edinburgh University, where he is currently studying for a PhD, in the Senior Mens race over the same 8km distance. He ran very well in the last race of the day, over what was by then a very cut up muddy course, to finish in the Top 50 of over 160 high quality athletes including Olympian Andy Butchart who finished in 4th.
