Charlotte Payne (Kennet school & NAC) was selected to represent England South in the prestigious UK School Games held at Loughborough University against 4 other National teams including Scotland and Northern Ireland. She was also chosen as England South’s Team Captain which is a huge achievement and privilege at such an esteemed event.  Charlotte led the hammer competition right from the very first round by over 2 metres despite being against the very top athletes from around the country. Her furthest – and the winning – throw of 62.79m was less than 30cm from breaking the Championship record which has stood for a number of years. Charlotte walked away with the Gold medal rounding off a fantastic season for her. Her team then went on to win the whole Athletics Event in which Charlotte received the trophy for her work as captain.

This fantastic achievement ends her successful 2018 athletics season as she prepares to move into the Under 20 age category next year.
