Weekend Round-up – 14th/15th October

A busy weekend for the club started on Saturday when Izzy Fry kicked off her cross country season with a trip to Cardiff for the first of the British Athletics Cross Challenge series races. Riding high on the back of 5k PB the weekend before Izzy battled with the lead pack for well over half the 4.5k course finishing 8th in a top quality U17/U20 field.
On Sunday there were a number of road races with club representation.

Some of the NAC runners at the Tadley 10 mile

There was a club clean sweep of the veteran women prizes at the Tadley 10 mile: Philippa Cass 1st V35 (1:12:21), Sue Van Huyssteen 1st V45 (1:15:56) and Jenny Eaton 1st V55 (1:15:06).  Both Sue & Jenny broke club age-group records. The ladies were joined by Jeff Bird (6th – 1:02:58), Martin Walker (7th – 1:03:24) and Steve Ferriday (1:21:14).

Even more local to home Matt Green took 1st place in the Step Up 4 Good 10k at Greenham Common in a swift time of 34:31. He was followed home by James Paisley (40:16), Christina Pugsley (45:09), Geoff Anderson (45:20) and Brian Matthews (46:31).
Down on the south coast Phil Marshall took on the Brighton 10 mile race, sneaking under the hour mark for the first time, finishing 25th in 59:57.
Finally Hannah Coxhead and Ian Coxhead were ‘enjoying’ a bit of autumn sun at the Valencia Marathon. Hannah finished in just over 4 hours, with Ian not too far behind despite doing no more than a 10 mile training run in the lead up!
