Some excellent results from club members over the weekend:
Jess Franklin won the F35 age-group at the English Masters Inter-Area XC challenge in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday. Anne Stewart-Power was 3rd in the F55 category and Mike Sheridan 5th in the M65s. These results should ensure we have some representation in the England team for the British & Irish Masters International in November.
Andy McKendrick improved his 10 mile PB by just over two minutes on Saturday, finishing 19th in 63:04 at the Cotswold Classic 10.
At the Windsor Half-Marathon Tom Watkins finished in an excellent 9th place in 73:04.
Two teams of Newbury athletes competed at the Basingstoke Speed Decathlon on Saturday. This unique and fun end of season event sees both solo athletes and teams of up to 4 complete a full decathlon in just 60 minutes. Team “Hourly Thompson” consisting of Mike Robbins, Sam Dredge and Ryan Hill thoroughly enjoyed their multi-event debut, finishing 7th in the team competition. “An Effective Team” used age graded scoring to their advantage, as Jenny O’Connor, Trinity O’Connor and Reuben Langdon were joined by Blackheath & Bromley’s Harrison Thorne to narrowly miss out on a podium place, finishing as fourth best team.
