Weekend Round-up 29th/30th July

Four club members raced on Saturday at the Iffley Road track, Oxford, made famous by Roger Bannister breaking the 4 min mile. Izzy Fry ran a personal best time in the BMC 1500m E race, her time of 4:32.7 also lowered her own Newbury A.C Under 20 age group record. Mike Robbins took nearly 7 seconds off his previous best time for 1500m in the BMC C race as he clocked 4:16.8. Phil Marshall raced over the One Mile distance for the first time to record 4:42.4 and Yasmin Ryder came 3rd in the 800m in 2:20.3.

Simon Barrett (V60) competed for Great Britain at the European Masters Athletics Championships  in Aarhus, Denmark over the weekend finishing in 6th place in the final of the 100m in a seasons best time of 12.85 and just missed out on qualifying for the final of the 400m as he finished the semi-final in a time of 1:01.55. Success came in the 100m relay as his team achieved the  Gold medal.

At the CAU Inter-County Championships in Bedford Jamie Kuehnel threw 48.50m in the Senior Mens hammer competition.
