Weekend Round -up (excluding SAL match)

Kitty winning her 1500m heat

The four members of our club representing Berkshire Schools at the ESAA English Schools Championships in Birmingham this weekend produced some outstanding results. All 4 were competing in the first year of their respective age groups. Kitty Shepherd-Cross ran a pb on Friday to finish fastest in the heats of the 1500m Intermediate Girls of 4:37.1 and then improved that by almost 2 seconds as she finished in Silver position in the final on Saturday morning in an outstanding time of 4:35.54.

Charlotte on the podium

Charlotte Payne took bronze in the Intermediate Girls Discus with a throw of 40.89m a position matched by Oliver Hewitt who threw a pb of 63.61m in the Senior Boys Hammer (also first year in this age-group.) Izzy Fry just failed to make the final of the Senior girls 1500m race having only learnt on Thursday afternoon that she had to race in what turned out to be a very tactical heat on Friday as opposed to just a straight final on Saturday.

Five members competed in the Tadley 10k on Sunday 9th. Wayne Lillis was 5th overall (1st M50) in 38:21; Martin Walker was 15th in 40:34; Philippa Cass 3rd lady in 44:.22 & Jenny Eaton 7th lady, (3rd F45) in 47:22
