Jess Franklin returned from the Athletics World Masters Championship held in

Malaga with two Silver medals from an outstanding run in the W35 8km cross country race.

Going in to the race Jess was ranked 12th, and 3rd out of the Great Britain team, but she built on her fine recent form that saw her claim British titles over 1500m & 5000m and took her running up to a new level to finish 2nd to Patrycja Wlodarczyk from Poland, and 5 seconds ahead of GB’s Michelle Sandison. Jess was the leading runner home in the GB team that also took Silver behind Poland, but ahead of hosts Spain.

Simon Barrett competed in the 100m and 200m at the same event finishing 5th in the 200m M65 semi final in a time of 28.5s and Craig Beecham also finished 5th in the M45 Long Jump with 5.62m. After a season blighted by injury Simon was delighted to finish with a flourish gaining Silver in 4×100 and Bronze in 4×400 M65 relays.
