Road running

The club maintains a strong road running section. There is an offical club run on a Thursday evening and several informal groups which meet up and run at other times. The club participates actively in local road races and supports the organizers of the Newbury Race for Life and the Ollie Johnson Memorial Kintbury 5.

Each year the club organizes the following local races

  • Boxing Day handicap: a 1.8 mile course starting at Northcroft Park following Speen Lane to Church Road and then returning along the public footpath to Northcroft. The race is free to enter for all club members, their family and friends. Slower runners are given a start on the faster ones so, everyone is in with a chance of winning
  • Easter Handicap: takes place on Easter Sunday and follows the same format as the Boxing Day event, except that the course is covered in clockwise direction.
  • Bayer Newbury 10K: this 10K road race takes place on the Sunday of the holiday weekend at the end of May. It starts & finishes in the centre of Newbury
  • ADP 10K: this 10K muti-terrain event takes place in September in the fabulous grounds of Highclere Castle.

Further details of all these events can be found of the other pages within this section.
