Supported Charities
We are pleased to confirm that 100% of the profits from the 2024 races will be split between Newbury AC, Newbury Soup Kitchen and Loose Ends Newbury.
Newbury Soup Kitchen serves as a pillar of support for those in need in the Newbury and West Berkshire areas. Their approach is holistic, addressing not only the physical hunger but also the emotional and social needs of each person they encounter.
Loose Ends Newbury is a well-established drop-in centre open to anyone in the community in need of a hot meal. We welcome people who are homeless, lonely or vulnerable as well as those who are simply struggling to make ends meet. Operating out of the Club House at Newbury Cricket we offer a warm and friendly environment and as well as serving good quality food we also provide mini food parcels, toiletries and other essentials. They run five sessions a week for those over 18 and once a week they also have a session for families with children.
Our sponsors
We are immensely grateful for the generous support of our sponsors, Stryker, Howden, Castle Windows and Gardner Leader. Without their encouragement and financial contributions, it simply would not be possible to stage the race.
Gardner Leader is a leading regional law firm with offices in Newbury, Thatcham, Maidenhead, Swindon, Oxford, Windsor, and London. Message to members of Newbury AC
To put on this event and benefit from a share of the race entry proceeds, we require the support of all our members before, during and after the race. There are also many tasks (small and big) which can be completed by those who also want to run. If you would like to run on the day, please nominate someone to help on the day (the hardest task is finding enough marshals).
Previous Charities
Every year, the proceeds from race entries raise much needed funds for local charities and other good causes which have previously included Sail 4 Cancer, The Newbury and District MS Society, Swings and Smiles, The Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, Naomi House and Jacksplace, PALS West Berkshire, The Wooden Spoon charity for Naomi House, Berkshire Youth and Newbury Athletic Club.
